[Boca Raton, FLA, May 2, 2023] – Students are preparing to be captivated by the harmonious convergence of music and culture as Florida Atlantic University (FAU) proudly presents FAU Opera in Italy. This exhilarating program invites opera aficionados and music enthusiasts to embark on a transformative journey deep into the heart of Italian opera, immersing themselves in Italy's rich traditions and awe-inspiring beauty.


From May 27 to June 24, 2023, FAU Opera in Italy will transport participants to the enchanting city of La Spezia, Italy, serving as the backdrop for a month-long exploration of vocal excellence and artistic growth. With breathtaking weekend excursions to Verona and Florence, participants will discover the cultural treasures that have inspired generations of opera lovers.


Drawing students from diverse universities, FAU Opera in Italy is an inclusive celebration of music and camaraderie. Whether a seasoned vocal performance major or a non-music student seeking an extraordinary study abroad experience, this program offers an immersive adventure that will resonate.

Led by a distinguished faculty, participants will receive unrivaled mentorship and guidance. Joining the faculty are renowned masterclass clinicians from the United States and Italy. Countertenor Ray Chenez, pianist Karen Verm, baritone Craig Verm, soprano Sara Duchovnay, heldentenor Clay Hilley, soprano Martha Eason, composer Sarah Hutchings, pianist Marco Podestà, mezzo-soprano Fulvia Bertoli, soprano Patrizia Cigna, and baritone Mitchell Hutchings will share their expertise, unlocking hidden potential, and expanding vocal prowess and artistic horizons.


FAU Opera in Italy is not just about honing skills; it's about forging lasting connections and collaborative partnerships. Through a series of vocal training sessions, intensive coaching, and exhilarating masterclasses, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with local Italian musicians, artists, and organizations. This synergy will ignite creativity, fostering a profound appreciation for the fusion of art and culture.
